Perth Fashion Festival: Student Runway The Perth Fashion Festival spectacle has demonstrated the immense design talent and standards of WA Fashion and the Student Runway event, a showcase of students from tertiary institutions Polytechnic West, Edith Cowan University, Challenger Institute and WAAPA did not fail to highlight some of our rising stars emerging in to the world of design. The evening kicked off with The Carton initiative designers, Nicole Marrington, Jessica Hogg and Samuel Donaldson who all won the opportunity to spend the last 12 months in ‘The Carton’, space sponsored and supplied by Carillon City which saw the winners mentored by some of the well-known names in the industry. Their showcases all very strong displays with pieces inspired by the desert, art deco and the nomads. Students then showcased under a number of categories, ready to wear women’s and men’s, contemporary evening wear, eco design and costume couture. Each category offering prizes for the top performers taking out each category were the following ; Ready to Wear Women's; Amy Webb from WAAPA, Ready to Wear Men's; Tim Watson from Curtin University, Contemporary Evening Wear, Nicole Frahn from Polytechnic West, Eco Design; Lauren Sims from Curtin University and Costumer Couture Aqeela Isaacs.
