Mary Katrantzou designs Christmas Tree for London Design Museum

The London-based Greek designer, winner of the British Fashion Award for Emerging Talent in 2011, has designed a tree for London's premier design destination.

The 'tree' is actually a 3-meter-high 2D design which will hang on the wall outside of the Design Museum on the South bank of the River Thames through the holiday season. The 29-year-old creative visionary's effort is on display from December 4 until January 9 next year.

"The print was inspired by formal gardens and artful box parterres, these were layered and overlaid to create an intricate maze-like print reminiscent of a hand embroidered lace motif," said the designer.

After studying at the Rhode Island School of Art and Design, Mary Katrantzou finished her studies at London's prestigious Central St Martins. She has risen rapidly to become one of fashion's brightest global talents with her clothes now sold in over 250 stores around the world. Katrantzou's recent collection for Topshop sold out in the first few days of its release.

Katrantzou has previously collaborated with Longchamp on a bag line and Swarovski for jewelry and has produced a denim range with LA denim label Current/Elliot.
