Final Installment of the Hobbit Trilogy’s London Premiere

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, the final installment of Peter Jackson's long-awaited trilogy had its premiere in London's Leicester Square to great fanfare. Fans of the series lined the streets, hoping to catch a glimpse of their favorite Middle-Earth characters. Actors Orlando Bloom, Benedict Cumberbatch, Stephen Fry, Martin Freeman, Evangeline Lilly, Ian McKellen and director Peter Jackson all attended the premiere and signed autographs for fans, many of whom had dressed in costume for the event.

When asked about his experience of making the films and whether he was sad about the adventure coming to an end, Martin Freeman, who plays the hobbit Bilbo, said "I made friends from it, and I made real, amazing memories from it, so no, they will always be there."

American actress Evangeline Lilly, who plays the elf Tauriel, revealed that she kept "Tauriel's sexy leather pants," which come out when she goes out dancing on the town.

British actor Sir Ian McKellen, who plays the wizard Gandalf in the Hobbit trilogy as well as the Lord of the Rings trilogy, commented on the popularity of the films. "The success of the films is because we've cottoned on to what they like, and they like moral stories about good people trying to do the right thing, not always making it but having a go, and they all love Gandalf, so it’s not over wherever I go! Gandalf's there, sort of," he playfully said.
