American hip hop Artist Nicki Minaj is one of rap and pop’s rising stars! As well as a talented musician known for her elastic voice and the razor sharp flow of her lyrics, the singer has become a fashion icon famed for her distinctive colorful style. Born in Saint James, Trinidad and Tobago and raised in Jamaica, Queens, New York, a troubled home life made the young Minaj determined to make it in the music industry. After taking on numerous backup singing roles for New York City based rappers, Nicki Minaj was discovered by Dirty Money records by the label’s CEO Fendi, who signed her to his label. The signing lead to her collaboration with producer Lil Wayne on a series of mixtapes, the first public showcase of the singers extroverted show-stopping style.

To much anticipation the singer released her debut studio album Pink Friday in 2010, the album was a resounding success, peaking at number one on the US Billboard charts and spawning the smash hit single Super Bass. During this time period Nicki Minaj was the first female solo artist to have seven singles simultaneously charting. The signer catapulted into mainstream consciousness with her performance at the 2012 Super Bowl alongside pop superstar Madonna. Nicki Minaj continued to capture the the national audience with a guest appearance as a judge on American Idol which resulted well-publicized feud with fellow judge singer Mariah Carey. The popularity of her appearance on the reality TV show lead to her becoming a a main judge on the 2013 season of American Idol. Her following albums Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded in 2012 followed the stellar trajectory topped the charts, a success repeated by her third album The Pink Point in 2014. With films currently in the works there seems no stopping this singer’s ascent!
